Is Your Dog Suffering From the Back-to-School Blues?

- 8/30/2016 11:28:47 AM
Is Your Dog Suffering From the Back-to-School Blues?Has the family dog suddenly developed some bad behaviors - like chewing on furniture or shoes, barking excessively and even soiling in the house?

It could be the back-to-school blues. After having the kids to play with all summer, he suddenly finds himself alone most of the day. Not only are the kids gone all day for school and afternoon activities, but when they come home, they're too busy with homework for play time.

Dogs are happiest when they have a routine and the change from summer to school-year schedule can be hard on them.

Puppy Meets the Groomer

- 8/11/2016 2:11:45 PM
Puppy Meets the GroomerWhile routine grooming tasks, like brushing, are easy to handle at home, many of us prefer to turn the major jobs - like shampoos and nail trims - over to a professional.

After all, they have the training and the special equipment needed to perform those tasks better than we can at home. Another big plus of handing your dog over to a groomer for those "big jobs" is that you won't have to deal with the mess of wet, shed hair all over your bathroom!

Teaching Your Puppy to Be Handled

Teaching Your Puppy to Be HandledRegular grooming is one of the most important responsibilities pet parents have. By taking good care of your pet's coat, ears, teeth and nails, you'll keep him healthy and comfortable - not to mention nice to be near!

Unfortunately, puppies aren't born knowing how to behave during grooming sessions. They may not like having their ears cleaned or nails clipped. And they may try to pull away or even nip when touched in a sensitive area.

Keeping Puppy Safe and Happy in Your Yard

- 7/19/2016 2:06:17 PM
Keeping Puppy Safe and Happy in Your YardYour puppy will be your shadow for his first few weeks in your home; he feels more secure when someone is near and is not yet brave enough to explore without you. Don't let this initial dependence lull you into a false sense of security: your dog WILL eventually find the curiosity to stray from your side -- and from your yard as well.
