Don’t Forget: Your Dog Needs to Be Company Ready, Too!
Your baking is done, your house is decorated -- everything is festive and fresh and ready for guests. But, what about your dog?

You don't have to wait until the last minute to get your canine companion company-ready! With the right steps, a thorough pre-holiday grooming will last at least several weeks. Here's what to do:

  • Brush and brush again. You want to get rid of all the loose or shedding hair so it doesn't end up on the furniture and carpets. For long-haired dogs, carefully work out any knots with a steel-pinned comb and an untangling spray.

  • Shampoo and moisturize. Thoroughly massage in a shampoo made for pets to remove remaining loose hair. Rinse, then massage in a moisturizing treatment and rinse again. Towel dry, then set your hair dryer on the coolest setting to avoid burning your dog's skin as you blow dry.

  • Trim nails. You don't want your pet scratching guests, so be sure to clip nails. To prevent bleeding, take off a small amount at a time and stay well away from the "quick." Be prepared with a styptic product in case you do clip into the blood vessel.

  • Do a last-minute touch up. On the big day, just use some grooming wipes for a quick freshening. Add a holiday collar or reindeer antlers and your pet is company-ready!

If you'd rather put the job in the hands of a professional, make an appointment soon because quality groomers book up quickly for the holidays. You can save time and reduce the stress on your pet by using a mobile dog groomer, like Canine Company's Mobile Pet Spa, which comes right to your driveway.
